How to make scooter faster - Tips for increasing speed of scooter

Everyone wants to make his scooter more faster than it’s normal speed. So here are some method for increasing speed, some are cheaper and some are expensive.

Here’s my favorite technique for increasing speed of scooter.

Remove the fuel filter, your scooter will go faster because the engine can get more fuel.. what crap. This would only be true if your fuel filter was completely blocked and your engine wasn't getting any fuel. If this was happening you'd know about it!

Tuning:
Having your carb(Carburetor) tuned properly will allow you to get the most out of your motorized scooter. If your scooter isn't tuned properly, it will 'bog' down when you try and accelerate or it may accelerate well but die at 2/3 revs rather than going to full revs.

Replace your air filter:
This may seem unnecessary, but it is a very important step. By removing your moped scooter air filter and replacing it with an expansion chamber or a higher performance muffler, you can actually increase the speed of the moped scooter. This is a simple remove and replace step and should not need any tools other than a screwdriver.

Advance the timing:
When you advance the timing you cause the spark plug to ignite the fuel a little earlier which helps burn the fuel better. Be careful, once you change the timing its hard to get it back to the original setting. I've heard however that advancing the timing on a scooter with an expansion chamber and high performance carb will actually decrease performance.

Raising the compression:
1. Remove the washer around the spark plug and then stop any leaks with liquid gasket cement.
I've personally tried this one and I wouldn't do it again.

2. Remove the head gasket from the motor. This will lower the cylinder and reduce the gap between the top of the piston and the spark plug. You can use liquid gasket cement to replace the old cardboard gasket. Have fun with this one!

3.The third and the best technique I've seen is to take your motor into a small engine shop and get about 20 thousands of an inch machined off the base of the cylinder. This allows you to keep your normal head gasket rather than removing it and replacing it with liquid head gasket cement which can leak.

Changing the gear ratio:
Changing the drive ration will change the acceleration (get up & go) and top speed of your scooter. On scooters such as Go-Ped, Martin Monster and OZ scooters which use a spindle on tyre drive technique, changing the diameter of the spindle will change the drive ratio of the scooter. The larger the diameter of the spindle, the more top end. The smaller the spindle the more low end grunt and acceleration it will have. With scooters driven by chain and/or reduction gearbox (VIZA VIPER, VENOM, CRUZE also sold under the Tami name) changing the rear sprocket size on the rear wheel will change the drive ratio.

Expansion chamber pipes:
Expansion Chamber Pipes, racing pipes or whatever you want to call them give a marked increase in horsepower. Different pipes are required for each engine to obtain the maximum benefit out of them. Racing pipes can also be tuned to give maximum increase at either low or high revs. Racing pipes will make the engine run hotter so caution should be taken in hot weather.

Turbo:

Using forced air induction will boost performance by forcing more air in, more fuel into the motor giving your scooter more go.

Kind of scooters in market

These days scooters are getting more popular due to their cool style and economical inexpensive. Scooter companies are trying to make scooter more affordable and unique style. Here are the basics types of scooter.

Folding scooter:

As it can be known by it’s name Folding scooter can be folded to the size of a suitcase after use. Currently, it is the most popular model in the scooter market, and is available in two models, two wheeled and three wheeled. The two wheeled model is considered to be the standard folding scooter. Folding scooters are compact in size and come with a body of aluminum or steel. Thus, folding scooters are lightweight and can be easily carried on a bus, car, van, or some other vehicle.

Skateboard scooter:

Normally skateboard scooter is for kids but also available for elders. Skateboard scooters come with a fixed handlebar, and are steered just like standard skateboards. Unlike other scooters, skateboard scooters have smaller wheels, and are typically slower. The skateboard scooter is suitable for trick riding.

Freestyle scooter:

Normally skateboard use for trick riding but it’s another type of scooter used for trick riding is the freestyle scooter. The most attractive feature of the freestyle scooter is the kick tail, a part of the deck extending upward over the back wheel.

Three wheel folding scooter:

It’s almost same with folding scooter that is described above. As the name implies, this is a three wheeled scooter that can be folded after use. It has one wheel in front and two wheels at the back, and the wheels are 100mm in-line skate style. Three wheel folding scooters are a combination of the folding scooter and the skateboard scooter. Thus, they include some of the features of both.

Executive scooter:

It features handbrakes and large polyurethane wheels, about 180mm wide. The wheels are designed to handle cracks and bumps and glide easily. Thus, it provides a smooth and fast ride. Commonly, the large wheel scooter is used by adults and older children. Though an executive scooter is large in size, they can be folded just like the standard folding scooter.

Gas and Electric scooters:

Gas powered motorized scooters and electric powered motorized scooters are more powerful and easy to drive. Because of these features, these two types of scooters are widely used for on and off road long distance and short distance drives. But, gas powered motorized scooters are not permitted in some areas. So, it is always recommended to check the rules and regulations before purchase.
